WAVES MAGAZINE — SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Beauty. Adventure. Voice.

Waves Magazine is a creative platform dedicated to storytelling that captures the spirit of beauty, movement, and exploration. We welcome emerging and established creators whose work reflects a sense of place, emotional depth, and a connection to the natural and human experience.

GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • All submissions must be original, unpublished work (including personal blogs and social media).
  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
  • Include a brief bio (50–100 words) and any relevant links (portfolio, website, social media).
  • Submit all work via email or designated submission portal (if applicable).
  • Clearly label your submission category in the subject line (e.g., “Poetry Submission – Your Name”).
  • We reserve the right to edit for clarity, style, and length in collaboration with contributors.

POETRY

We seek poetry that evokes imagery, emotion, and a sense of movement—whether internal or external.

  • Submit 3–5 poems per entry
  • No strict line limit, but we favor concise, impactful work
  • All styles welcome: free verse, structured, experimental
  • Themes: nature, water, travel, identity, transformation, the unknown

SHORT STORIES

We’re drawn to narratives that transport the reader—into landscapes, memory, or moments of quiet revelation.

  • Word count: 1,000–3,500 words
  • Literary fiction preferred, though we welcome speculative and hybrid forms
  • Strong sense of setting and character is essential
  • Stories should align with themes of beauty, discovery, or personal journey

ARTICLES / ESSAYS

We publish thoughtful, well-crafted articles that explore culture, travel, environment, creativity, and human experience.

  • Word count: 800–2,000 words
  • Accepting personal essays, cultural commentary, travel writing, and reflective pieces
  • Tone: engaging, insightful, and accessible
  • Fact-based articles should include sources where applicable

ART & ILLUSTRATION

We feature visual work that reflects the aesthetic of Waves—organic, immersive, and evocative.

  • Submit 5–10 high-resolution images (JPEG or PNG)
  • Include title, medium, dimensions, and year for each piece
  • Brief artist statement (100–150 words) encouraged
  • We are especially interested in work inspired by nature, water, and movement

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography should capture authentic moments, environments, and perspectives that align with our visual identity.

  • Submit 5–12 images
  • High-resolution files (300 DPI preferred)
  • Include captions and location details when relevant
  • Minimal editing preferred—natural tones and lighting are valued

WILDERNESS PHOTOGRAPHY (FEATURE CATEGORY)

This category celebrates raw, untamed landscapes and the spirit of exploration.

  • Submit 6–15 images from a cohesive series
  • Include a short narrative (200–400 words) about the location, journey, or story behind the work
  • Emphasis on natural environments: oceans, forests, deserts, mountains, remote terrains
  • Ethical photography practices required (no harm to wildlife or ecosystems)

RIGHTS & COMPENSATION

  • Contributors retain full copyright of their work
  • By submitting, you grant Waves Magazine first publication rights and permission to feature your work in print and digital formats, including promotional use
  • Compensation (if applicable) will be outlined upon acceptance

RESPONSE TIME

  • Please allow 2–4 weeks for a response
  • Due to volume, we may not be able to provide individual feedback on all submissions

FINAL NOTE

We are not just looking for content—we are looking for perspective. Work that lingers. Work that moves like water and stays like memory.

If your voice carries beauty, curiosity, and a sense of adventure, we want to experience it.
